WORD AND IMAGE/SYNERGY...10 points Synergy means a working together, a cooperative action — a bringing together of independent elements. The total effect is greater than the sum of the two effects taken independently. We will explore the nuances of bringing together letterforms, and various textures and patterns in order to produce a synergistic relationship. Combine one word and imagery of your to communicate the verbal/visual meaning of the word. Important: Your word should be something that is descriptive (adjective) rather than a name (of a person place or thing), and should describe the following:
Start with a bold, sans serif typeface to allow for a maximum of image area. Do not modify the typeface. Legibility of form is a major consideration in the final analysis. Consider letterspacing and overall arrangement of the letters as important design considerations. Do not stack the type or lay it out diagonally. Imagine that you are trying to communicate the meaning of the word to non-English speaking students as well as add meaning to those who are able to read it. Thus, your design needs to be readable on two different levels...as word, and as an image.
