WEB SITE DESIGN ...10 points

Designing a web site is much the same as any other graphic design project. The main difference being the flow of the design process. In web site design the flow is generally from the bottom up, meaning that the look and feel of a site is, in most cases, driven by the site's content and the clients needs for audience and interactivity.

In print, you are trying to get your audience to stay on a page long enough to get a marketing message across. You are often faced with a limited area in which to achieve this, such as a one-page magazine ad. In some cases, you are trying to catch their attention and have them dive deeper into your product, as with a book cover or the first page of a brochure.

On the web, you are generally trying to keep your audience on a specific website for as long as possible. The amount of pages to work with can be unlimited, so you ‘tease’ the audience with snippets of content to entice them into clicking further into your site.

Design Process:
If you are not familiar with web site design for the wine industry, do some research on the web before you get started. Pay close attention to what content is driving a site and how easy, or how difficult, it is to navigate through a site and get back to where you started. Make note of how wine is purchased online.

Due date:
Check MessageBoard and Course Schedule pages for due dates.
